Our Timeline 

We exist to “End Poverty in One Generation.” 

Ending Poverty is the outcome but why have we chosen this timeline?

First, a timeline must be realistic, achievable, and compelling. For us, “….in one generation”, or within 25 years, fits all three of these. 

Secondly, timelines serve a business purpose. Strategy, mileposts, people & resource planning are all designed to achieve the desired outcome on the chosen timeline. 

Additionally, the use of the term “….in one generation” reminds us of two factors that are not immediately obvious.

The first is that “….in one generation” is not just our target, it is our “window of opportunity” where conditions have lined up in our favor.

The second is to remind us that “the system driving poverty is not static”. People change, society changes, and yet, poverty persists in different “socially accepted” forms century after century. Each generation writes a new story of what’s acceptable.

We are the one generation that ends poverty – not just the manifestation but more crucially the system that drives it.
